You will work on projects that will investigate the neurovascular mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration at the onset of Alzheimer’s Disease. Duties include:

  1. breeding and managing multiple transgenic mice colonies to include genotyping and record keeping
  2. performing cranial window and viral injection surgeries to enable in vivo imaging of neurons and blood vessels
  3. performing immunohistochemical labelling of mouse brain tissue
  4. assisting a team of researchers with running experiments to measure mouse brain activity and oxygenation (using 2 photon microscopy and haemoglobin spectroscopy) and behaviour
  5. assist with the day-to-day management of the laboratory. 

Successful applicants will be highly motivated, able to work independently, and committed to working in a fast-paced and competitive research setting. Excellent technical and organisational skills, and the ability to work within a team are essential. 

The Hall (http://www.sussex.ac.uk/profiles/348374/research) laboratory is located in newly refurbished facilities within the Sussex Neuroscience Centre, which forms part of a vibrant neuroscience research community on campus

Candidates should have a first or upper-second class honours BSc degree in Neuroscience or a closely related discipline.
