An enthusiastic senior postdoctoral researcher is required to lead the integrated neuroimaging arm of a world-class multimodal programme of research focused on biomarkers in the neurodegenerative disorder amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS; also known as motor neurone disease, MND). The successful candidate will combine their advanced neuroimaging analysis expertise with an ambition to develop an independent career in the vibrant neuroimaging and neurodegeneration community of the Wellcome Centre for Integrative Neuroimaging (WIN), within the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences (NDCN).
The role includes being responsible for delivering and developing the ALS research group’s projects in structural and functional neuroimaging biomarker development, and supporting multi-centre research projects as part of the Neuroimaging Society in ALS (NiSALS). This will include analysis of existing longitudinal datasets collected locally, and contribution to analysis of multi-centre cohorts of data.
The successful candidate must hold a relevant PhD/DPhil with post qualification research experience and expertise in structural (T1, DTI) and fMRI analysis. It is essential that the postholder is familiar with neuroimaging research in the field of neurodegeneration and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in neuroimaging analysis to develop research projects and methodologies. It is expected that the post-holder will have a strong publication record with the ability to raise research funds through making grant applications. Experience of ALS research, analysing MEG or MRS data and post mortem MRI data would prove advantageous.
The post is full-time for a fixed-term until the 28 February 2021 in the first instance.
A less experienced candidate may be appointed at Grade 7 (£32,236 - £39,609 p.a.) with a commensurate adjustment in essential criteria, responsibilities and duties.
