The Centre of Precision Rehabilitation for Spinal Pain within the School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Birmingham is seeking to appoint a Senior Research Fellow. The appointed candidate will be expected to have ambition to participate in one of the UK’s strongest research Schools, maintaining our strengths as a leading research-led teaching department, capturing external research funding, and publishing work of the highest academic quality and impact.
Main Duties:
To plan and carry out research in the field of:
- Pain and neuroplasticity.
- Sensorimotor interaction with a focus on musculoskeletal pain disorders.
- Rehabilitation including novel approaches for pain management.
To execute teaching activities in the field of
- Pain.
- Sensorimotor interaction.
- Neuroplasticity.
To develop grant applications focused on:
- Sensorimotor interaction.
- Innovative rehabilitation approaches for people with musculoskeletal pain disorders.
- To supervise Master and PhD students.
Person spec:
- The appointee will have a background consistent with a research focus on pain and/or neuroplasticity.
- The candidate is expected to have an established track record of publications within these fields.
- The appointee will also have a track record in attracting external research funding.
- The applicant will possess a PhD within Neuroscience, Physiotherapy, Engineering or similar.
- The applicant will be able to demonstrate excellent project management and organisational skills, the ability to work to deadlines and previous experience in working with teams of people from academic and non-academic backgrounds.
