New expert-led consensus to shape the future of MND drug discovery and development research
6th December 2023
Within the ImmunoInflammation Therapy Area, the Cytokine, Chemokine and Complement Discovery Performance Unit (C3 DPU) provides an integrated focus for GSK in cytokines, chemokines and the complement system with a balanced portfolio of early stage drug discovery in the field of complement and clinical development programs targeting cytokine and chemokine biology. The C3 DPU strategy is to identify and validate therapeutic targets, to develop and optimise therapeutic molecules to these targets and conduct small, focused, experimental medicine proof of mechanism studies that establish a clear understanding between drug exposure, target occupancy, and pharmacodynamic effect.
We are looking to recruit several experienced scientists with expertise in complex cell culture systems, neuroimmunology, pain biology, immunology or pharmacology to help drive development of therapeutic molecules to treat immunoinflammatory diseases with a focus on mechanistic experimental and translational studies. Remuneration will be according to skills and experience.
To succeed in the roles, we are looking for candidates who are:
IN VITRO CELL BIOLOGIST:
This is a senior laboratory-based position and the successful candidate will be responsible for the development of complex in vitro cell culture systems to explore key questions for our discovery programs (e.g. target validation, mechanistic studies). They will bring expertise in:
Experience in analysing and interpreting big datasets, including ‘omics’ data, would be an advantage.
Basic qualifications:
IMMUNOLOGIST:
This is a senior laboratory-based position and the successful candidate will be responsible for developing, performing and/or overseeing various research activities with a focus on immunological mechanisms. Examples include flow cytometric immunophenotyping, in vivo studies of inflammation and in vitro complex co-culture cell systems. They will bring expertise in:
Experience in analysing and interpreting big datasets, including ‘omics’ data or expertise in neuroimmunology, would be an advantage.
Basic qualifications:
PAIN BIOLOGY EXPERT:
This is a senior laboratory-based position and the successful candidate will be responsible for designing, performing and/or overseeing research activity focussed on in vitro pain models and in vivo pain behaviour models. They will bring expertise in:
Basic qualifications:
IN VITRO ENZYMOLOGIST/PHARMACOLOGIST
This is a senior laboratory-based position and the successful candidate will be responsible for designing and executing experimental strategies to define and interrogate mechanisms of action of new drug molecules with their respective targets. These strategies will include the use of multiple technologies, automation and software solutions to enable both routine and complex experimental delivery and efficient analysis. They will bring expertise in:
Experience in also understanding the cellular pharmacology of drug targets and molecules would be an additional desired skillset
Basic qualifications:
