The School of Psychology is offering two Teaching and Research Associate posts starting between May 1st 2019 and September 1st2019 (by negotiation), with a fixed term of 5 years. These TARA posts are designed for career development, where teaching and research support roles are conducted in parallel with studies towards a PhD in the School of Psychology.

You will join a team of six other TARAs to provide specialist support for undergraduate teaching, running workshops and surgeries, supporting our experiential learning laboratory, preparing teaching materials, and helping to support research activities across the School of Psychology.

You will also be required to register for and work towards a PhD in the School of Psychology, with TARAs benefiting from waived study fees. The School is home to internationally recognised research from a wide range of areas, including cognition, learning, vision, music, developmental, emotion, health, clinical, social and neuroscience disciplines. You will have access to an extensive, modern and well-equipped laboratory with facilities supported by a dedicated team of technical staff. You will also be part of a large, vibrant, highly collaborative community of PhD students with good interdisciplinary links. Currently the school has around 50 students registered for a PhD, and over 30 students studying for a DClinPsy.

Applications are preferred from candidates holding an MSc in psychology research methods or related field, or equivalent research experience. You are expected to have at least an upper second class degree in psychology or closely related subject. Experience in psychological experiment design and analysis are also highly desirable, along with confidence and fluency in statistical data analysis, with preference to those with familiarity with R.

This is a part-time post working 27.75 hours per week (0.75 fte) on a fixed-term basis for 5 years, starting on the 1st May 2019, or later by negotiation (up to a deadline of 1st September, 2019).
