Job Details
This post provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of King's College London's new BSc in Neuroscience and Psychology with the object of ensuring a high standard of education and outcomes for students.
The post-holder will undertake teaching activities on the BSc in Neuroscience and Psychology, and contribute to the administration, delivery, assessment and enhancement of taught modules, with a major contribution to research methods and statistics.
Essential Criteria
- First degree in Psychology, Neuroscience or other Cognate subject (2:1 or above)
- PhD in Cognitive/Systems/Computational Neuroscience/Psychology
- Good knowledge of Psychology curriculum to support teaching in BPS core Psychology areas, particularly Research Methods and Statistics
- Good knowledge of research area in Cognitive/Systems/Computational neuroscience or Experimental Psychology to develop content and supervise UG student projects
- Good knowledge of quantitative statistics, current transparent research practises and programming for data analysis and simulation (primarily in R. Matlab, Python and others a welcome advantage)
- Experience in supporting UG Psychology teaching (leading seminars, marking and providing high quality summative and formative feedback)
- Experience in supervising UG projects/dissertations (especially in the area of statistics support, data analysis, computer programming and thesis write-up
- Experience in using computational tools such as models, simulations or quantitative analysis methods in research.
- Research experience (particularly in cognitive/systems/computational neuroscience or using neuroimaging or electrophysiology techniques) as demonstrated by publication record (accepted; submitted; in preparation) and/or successful grant applications
- A flexible, enthusiastic self-starter able to engage actively with the team and students
- Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development
- Evidence of high self-motivation and ability to organise, plan and prioritise own workload
Desirable criteria
- Higher Education teaching qualification (e.g. PGCAPHE or PGCHE)
- Advanced IT skills to support teaching (e.g. digital learning platforms such as Moodle or KEATs, ability to develop and use complex multi-media materials for presentations to students, in public, professional and academic meetings and an ability to support students using computational tools).

Further Information
Please note that this is a PhD level role but candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting award of their PhDs will be considered. In these circumstances the appointment will be made at Grade 5, spine point 30 with the title of Research Assistant. Upon confirmation of the award of the PhD, the job title will become Research Associate and the salary will increase to Grade 6.
