The University of Surrey was recently named the Times and Sunday Times University of the Year 2016 and is a top ten UK University set in a beautiful campus close to the centre of London.
 

The Clinical Psychology Training programme has a vacancy for a 0.6 WTE member of staff. The focus of this post will be to support the clinical and academic components of the programme. The programme is long established with 45 years’ experience of professional training. The programme has received commendations for innovative practice from the BPS. The team are committed to novel approaches to teaching and learning to prepare graduates from the programme for clinical practice. Employers have provided excellent testimonies on the quality, motivation and creativity of the newly qualified practitioners leaving the programme.
 

The post holder will have opportunities to influence how specific therapeutic approaches are taught on the programme. Currently we actively promote three psychotherapeutic models rather than just the two specified by the accreditation and registration bodies. This is integrated with a clear focus on the critical use of evidence and the generation of novel research. The post holder will join a team that supports the translation of research into practice and the evaluation of service developments. The post-holder will be expected to teach and develop innovative approaches to engage trainees in their own personal and professional learning.
 

The Clinical Psychology programme is a central element of the teaching and research activity of the School and is also part of the School strategy to develop cross-discipline research aimed at releasing the life-long potential of the human brain; addressing inequalities in life course, health and wellbeing; embracingchanging societies, environments and communities; intervening to support vital, healthy and creative lives; creating innovative assessment and interventions; and educating the professionals of the future. We actively encourage interdisciplinary work and have many cross-discipline links.

We seek to appoint an clinical psychologist who will work with colleagues in the other applied programmes to develop a community of teaching and learning which is responsive to the changing demands of the health, education and social care sectors across the life span.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a creative and collegiate approach to Psychology, and we welcome applicants who are confident in their clinical competence. Applicants with formal additional qualifications in Cognitive behavioural therapy, systemic therapy and neuropsychology would be welcomed. The post- holder needs to hold practitioner doctorate qualification registered with the HCPC and be eligible to be chartered with the BPS The main focus of the post is the Clinical Psychology programme but there may be opportunities to contribute more widely depending on the interest of the post-holder.
