BNA members receive international recognition with SfN awards
8th October 2024
External Event - 4th to 6th Sep 2019
Both the Board of Directors of the Spanish Neuroscience Society and I are pleased to announce that the 18th Meeting of the Society will take place in Santiago de Compostela, from September 4 to 6, 2019. The venue is the Palacio de Congresos e Exposicións de Galicia in that city.
We often comment on the aims and scope of each of the activities organized within our Society. When I think about our biennial Meeting, I feel it is the right time to meet with national and, increasingly, international neuroscientist colleagues (most of whom are friends), to discuss work in hand and to plan joint projects. Regrettably, we also have to try and find solutions to the unsustainable shortfall in investments suffered in our scientific environment.
For many of the younger members, the SENC Congress can mean the presentation of their first poster at a scientific meeting. Every debut is exciting and challenging. The level of poster presentations has increased considerably over the years, so we wanted to give them sufficient space and time in this occasion. I encourage everyone to actively participate in poster sessions to accord them the importance they deserve.
The scientific quality of the Meeting has also been consolidated over the years. The speakers of plenary lectures are chosen directly by the SENC Program Committee, but the symposia that are presented depend on the proposals of SENC members. From here I call on all of you to organize sessions that leave a good memory, both for the level of the speakers and for the innovative, dynamic, and creative approach of the chosen themes.
Finally, I want to highlight a part of the Metting that, according to the results of the Alicante survey, is of great interest to most members: the set of satellite activities, which enable us to learn and reflect on various Neuroscience-related topics in a close, flexible, and participatory setting. These activities, more than any other, require that the proposals of SENC members be diverse, at the same time as interesting and attractive for those attending the Meeting.
With the conviction that this will be an excellent Biennial Meeting, I await you all in Santiago de Compostela in September 2019.
