Are animals creative thinkers?

External Event - 13th Mar 2017

This event is being held on the 13th March 2017 at the medical school in Birmingham between 6:30-8:00 pm.

Creativity involves flexible thinking - using existing knowledge to solve a new problem, or to solve an existing problem in a new way. As humans, we think we are pretty good at creative thinking and innovation, but do other species also show creative behaviour? Dr. Chappell will talk about her research into whether non-human animals understand physical principles, generate innovative solutions to problems, or plan their actions in advance. She will also address whether we have underestimated how difficult creativity is - even for humans!

This event is open to the general public, and no registration is required.
