BAP Summer Meeting

External Event - 23rd to 26th Jul 2017

The British Association for Psychopharmacolog (BAP) Summer Meeting provides the perfect forum for members and non-members, non-clinical and clinical scientists to meet to debate, discuss and learn about the latest advances in psychopharmacology.

2017 sees the launch of our latest educational initiative – the Applied Clinical Science Stream (ACSS), which begins on the afternoon of Sunday 23 July and continues all day on Monday 24th. In addition to providing high quality, up-to-date psychopharmacology CPD for clinicians, the ACSS will highlight insights into future developments in our understanding of mental illness and its treatment. The ACSS is eligible for 10-11 CPD points.

We are delighted that Professor Sir Robin Murray will join us to present the annual plenary Guest Lecture on Monday 24 July and we look forward to hearing 'Facts about psychosis that (most) psychopharmacologists prefer to ignore'.

There will be three Short Oral Sessions on Tuesday, on topics including: 'Mechanisms of anxiety and its treatment', 'Circuits in schizophrenia' and 'Regulation and relevance of inflammation in affective disorders', and also a Trainees' Workshop entitled 'How to ...' and including topics such as publishing, fellowships, building a career in the pharmaceutical industry and how to interact with other disciplines.

Our social programme of events provides the perfect opportunity to network and continue scientific discussions in a relaxed and congenial atmosphere. We start with the welcome reception to be held at 7pm on Sunday 23rd, and our main event is the gala dinner on Tuesday 25th at the Royal Hall, followed by the legendary BAP disco.
