Neuroscience at Nottingham (N@N) Poster and Lecture Day - Nottingham

External Event - 16th Jan 2019

The next Neuroscience at Nottingham (N@N) Poster and Lecture Day will take place on Wednesday 16th January 2019 in the Maths Building Atrium and Keighton Auditorium, University of Nottingham, University Park.

Simon Laughlin, FRS, Emeritus Professor of Neurobiology, University of Cambridge, will give a talk on “Principles of Neural Design”. Simon studies design principles underlying structure and function of neurons and neural circuits by combining neurobiological experiments, mainly in flies’ visual system, with modelling to see how the basic elements of neural systems (ion channels, second messengers systems, membranes, synapses, neurons, circuits and codes) combine to determine performance. https://www.neuroscience.cam.ac.uk/directory/profile.php?SL104

There will be ten 3-min power pitches across different neuroscience research areas (13:20-14:00), poster presentations over tea and coffee (14:00-15:30), followed by the award of poster prizes, brief update on neuroscience-related research beacons and priority areas and Simon Laughlin’s lecture at 16:00. Registration and poster set up will start at 13:00. Everybody welcome!

Please email henry.bowler@nottingham.ac.uk for further information or to register (with or without power-pitch/poster – for catering purposes – tea & biscuits will be provided).
