The falling sickness - epilepsy from past to future

Learn more about the neurological disorder of brain activity where symptoms range widely from conspicuous muscular twitching to staring blankly for a few seconds, as if in a daydream. Led by Dr Mark Manford, clinical neurologist and Bath Royal’s Science & Medicine co-convenor, the talk explores the understanding of epilepsy through the ages, from its earliest descriptions to our current understanding. Mark will explain how epilepsy has been one of the pillars in our growing comprehension of brain function and will discuss treatments, their limitations and hopes for the future.
