Writing Effective Lab Reports

This workshop will teach you the basics of constructing a lab report, to support your writing for research projects, such as final year dissertations.

You will pick up some tips to improve your writing style to meet expectations in the field of physiology:

  • How to craft a sentence that clearly supports your point
  • How to organise a document so the reader can identify its main points, and how they fit together to support your conclusions
  • How and when to incorporate appropriate references to substantiate your points

Leading the session is Dr Harry Witchel, Senior Lecturer in Physiology at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, UK, and author of Writing for Biomedical Sciences Students, a comprehensive guide to all aspects of academic writing in the field of biomedical sciences. 

To aid your learning, you will work within small groups on tasks set throughout the session.
