Session 2: Delivering in the Clinic

The nervous system consists of the central and peripheral nervous systems (CNS and PNS). The presence of the blood brain barrier (BBB) makes the CNS a unique environment and dictates the joys and pitfalls of the development of safe and effective neurological therapies.

Various routes of administration have been used and plenty more are under investigation. They aim to achieve adequate exposure levels, maximise on-target and reduce off-target effects. Each delivery method deserves its own clinical and regulatory considerations.
