 In a recent editorial, Function Editor-in-Chief Ole Petersen, CBE, MD, FRS, discussed the historical importance of scientific discoveries. While science is supposed to be a rational evidence-based activity, we live in a time where unscrupulous “influencers” can spread uncertainty and allow radical misinterpretations of historical achievements in the sciences.
