Credibility in neuroscience to be championed through new BNA prize

28th Jan 2021

We're excited to launch the BNA Credibility Prize today - a new set of awards recognising efforts to ensure neuroscience research is as robust, reliable, replicable, and reproducible as possible.

This new prize scheme, which will be piloted in 2021, forms part of the BNA's ongoing work to create an exciting and sustainable future for 21st century neuroscience through driving credibility initiatives in neuroscience research.

One of the core commitments of our Credibility in Neuroscience campaign focuses on changing the culture within neuroscience, where credible research practices become embraced and celebrated by the neuroscience profession as a whole. Raising awareness amongst the neuroscience community of how change is already underway is a really important part of that, and these prizes will highlight and recognise some of the excellent examples that demonstrate this in practice.

We will be awarding BNA Credibility Prize for three categories:

  • Student Researcher Prize – open to undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • Individual Researcher Prize – open to researchers following completion of their highest degree
  • Team Prize – open to research teams where the team lead is based in the UK

Nominations are now open, and close at 23:59 GMT 28th February.

Each prize winner will be invited to share their work at BNA2021. For the Student Researcher category, the winner will also receive a cash prize of £500.

Want to nominate a student, a researcher, or a team for a prize?

For each prize, any BNA member can make a nomination within the following guidelines:

  • It must be for work in neuroscience research
  • The nominee does not have to be a BNA member
  • BNA members can self-nominate, if submitted with a letter of recommendation
  • Applications for the Team Prize must have one individual in the team identified as the key point of contact.
  • There is an expectation that activities for which the nomination relates to are current or ongoing.
Please see full details here.
Applications close on 28th February 2021 (23:59 GMT)

Enquiries: please contact the BNA office with any questions or comments
