New governance for the BNA

16th Apr 2017

New Articles and Rules of Association were voted in by members at the 2017 BNA Annual General Meeting held on 12th April in Birmingham, meaning they are now adopted by the BNA and used to guide all aspects of governance and running of the organisation.

Articles and Rules are requisite documents for all organisations like the BNA, i.e. an incorporated charitable membership association. They are held by the Charity Commission and dictate the purpose and activites of the BNA.

BNA's Trustees made the decision to re-write the Articles and Rules after commissioning an external governance review, which found that, over a period of many years, the previous documents had accumulated inconsistencies from successive changes. The newly adopted documents address these inconsistences and are up to date with Charity and Company Law.  None of the charity's Objects (which define the purpose of the BNA) have been changed.
