About the job

We are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, and motivated Research Support Officer to work in our Imperial Memory Unit team. This post presents an outstanding opportunity for researchers early in their career to gain experience of a memory research environment, and to learn and develop within a busy but supportive team.  

You will have excellent team working and communication skills with the vision and enthusiasm to continually develop both yourself and support within the service. You will work closely with the whole of the team including doctors, specialist nurses, and psychologists, as well as patients and their caregivers. The ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with our patient group is vital.

Being highly organised in your approach, you will develop and maintain ways of working to provide dynamic and effective research and administrative support. Attention to detail and the ability to prioritise workload are essential. The post holder will be responsible for all scheduling of assessments, administration of the unit, data management, and liaison with patients, carers and other departments both within and outside of the Trust.

The post will be based at Charing Cross Hospital, Hammersmith. This contract is offered for 12 months in the first instance with the view of renewal at the end of this period.

 

Person specification

Education

Essential criteria:

  • Degree in Life Sciences or a related field

Desirable criteria:

  • Good Clinical Practice Certificate

Skills/abilities

Essential criteria:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Good keyboard and IT skills – proficient use of Microsoft packages and the internet
  • Ability to input and retrieve data accurately on a computerised system

Experience

Essential criteria:

  • Experience of dealing with the general public
  • Experience in research methodologies

Desirable criteria:

  • Previous experience of an administrative role
  • Experience of working in a research environment
