We are seeking to appoint a Clinical Research Scientist (Neuroscience Specialist) to join our Neuroscience team and make a positive impact in a growing and progressive CRO. This role is full time and based at Manchester, with travel to other sites as required. The purpose of this role is to conduct collection of specialised pharmacodynamic data on studies running across all MAC sites and all phases of drug development as required. 

This role reports into the Head of Neuroscience and contributes to the development, validation and execution of new techniques in support of studies running in MAC. You will work as part of the clinical team to perform sleep studies on the sleep unit (including overnight as required)

 

Key Responsibilities:

Assist scientific team with the preparation, handling, distribution, filing, and archiving of study documentation and reports according to the scope of work and standard operating procedures. 

Assist the scientific team with preparation, handling and distribution of Clinical Trial Supplies and maintenance of equipment. 

Act as a contact between the scientific team and clinical teams for designated project communications, correspondence, and associated documentation. 

Collaborate with the clinical team on the preparation, handling, distribution, filing, and archiving of clinical documentation and reports according to the scope of work and standard operating procedures. 

Assist with the preparation of study-related presentation materials. 

Maintain and file designated study administrative files. 

Assist with other study related activities such as organizing study meetings and scheduling travel, producing agendas and minutes for study-related meetings, assembling training and study materials, updating contact details, maintaining study documentation, assisting in the preparation of administrative documents and other tasks as required. 

Assist in the set-up and validation of new models/techniques. 

Support clinical tests in Neurophysiology (EEG/Nerve Conduction), Sleep Studies (PSG – cover overnight) and other diagnostics or pain studies going on in the site. 

Provide oversight regarding scientific aspects of selected studies. 

Contribute to protocols, SOPs and other technical documents. 

Liaise with sponsors regarding the technical aspects of studies as appropriate. 

Maintain an awareness of our key customers, scientific areas of interest and market competitors. 

Actively seek information about new studies and competitors and share with colleagues. 

Provide training and support for clinical research physicians and other clinical staff. 

 

Key Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline such as health care, physiology, neuroscience or psychology  

Experience in some aspect of cognitive neuroscience research such as EEG or PSG 

Independent and self-motivated with the ability to manage own time, prioritise workload and to work collaboratively within a team.  

Excellent computer skills including use of Microsoft Office. 

Excellent oral and written communicative skills. Fluent in oral and written English  

Excellent inter-personal skills. 

Able to proactively identify risks and issues.
