King’s College London has been awarded a three-year Clinical Training Partnership Grant by the Alzheimer’s Society. We have an exciting opportunity for a nurse, social worker, Allied Health Professional (e.g. physiotherapist, occupational therapist) or other eligible non-medical professional to undertake a PhD at the Cicely Saunders Institute, in collaboration with the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN). The title of the project is “Understanding Emergency Department attendance among people with dementia approaching the end of life”. This is a mixed-methods study that aims to understand why some people with dementia attend the Emergency Department near the end of life, while others remain in their usual place of care.

We are seeking an innovative, well-organised and promising individual who is motivated to further develop their career through obtaining a PhD, and make a notable contribution to the advancement of end-of-life and palliative care for people with dementia. The post-holder will develop a diverse set of research skills and gain experience in research of national and international significance.

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 36 months.

This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent.

The selection process will include an assessment and a panel interview.
