We are looking for a enthusiastic, suitably qualified individual to work as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the group of Prof. Simon Butt, reporting to both the Prof. Simon Butt (DPAG) and Trevor Sharp (Pharmacology). This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated team focused on using the power of developmental genetics to interrogate the contribution of interneurons to emergent activity in the mammalian forebrain. The post holder will have the responsibility for carrying out research investigating the impact of altered serotonin signalling on emergent GABAergic networks and perception. The project will involve the development and adaptation of advanced optical and electrophysiological technologies to study neuronal activity in the neonatal brain. This will build on in vitro and in vivo approaches currently used in the Butt lab, as well as those of our immediate colleagues in the labs of Drs. Armin Lak and Adam Packer. The ideal candidate will have expertise in in vivo electrophysiology and optogenetics.

Further Information

This is a replacement post as the original post-holder had to return to their home country for personal reasons. The hope is to secure further funding to extend the position beyond the rather short 1.5 year period. The project also has 2 PhD students already working on in vivo and in vitro aspects.

The post will be filled if a suitable candidate is found. The start date can be with immediate effect or negotiable.
