Professor Narender Ramnani Steps into Presidency at the British Neuroscience Association

The post holder will join a multi-disciplinary team experienced in ageing studies and Parkinson’s Disease research.This is an exciting opportunity to work in a large programme grant that aims to improve personalised care for people with Parkinson’s disease.They will gain experience in a range of different research methodologies, including; evidence synthesis, qualitative methods, intervention development, feasibility studies and Randomised Controlled Trials.
The post holder will join a team of researchers and be expected to contribute to the development of a new facilitated online self-management intervention for Parkinson’s Disease. The role will include: leading on evidence reviewing and synthesis including guidelines and peer reviewed literature, conducting semi-structured interviews with people with Parkinson’s Disease and their carers, facilitating focus groups with health care professionals, data analysis, contribute to organising and facilitating co-design workshops, analysing qualitative and quantitative data, and development/user testing of the digital intervention. Finally, they will be expected to work on the feasibility study and main clinical trial set up including: trial design and set up, recruitment, data collection, data analysis.
The post is funded for 24 months in the first instance.
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with an interest in older adults, Parkinson’s Disease/neurodegenerative diseases and ageing research with a good first degree and an MSc in psychology, social sciences or health related field, or equivalent research/training experience. The successful candidate should have experience of systematic literature reviews, applied research experience and working with older people in a healthcare, voluntary, research or other setting.
