This post is to support on-going research within the Wellcome Centre for Mitochondrial Research in the Institute of Neuroscience, assessing the efficacy of circRNAs as potential biomarkers in Parkinson’s Disease. You should have a very strong background in molecular biology and neurodegenerative disease, ideally with expertise in interpreting and analysing mitochondrial DNA/RNA (mtDNA/mtRNA) data.

You will have an excellent undergraduate degree in the life sciences and a PhD in a relevant subject (Neurosciences, Molecular Biology related). Applicants must have experience in mitochondrial biology, especially using Seahorse analyser, and in molecular genetic and quantitative protein techniques.

You should be enthusiastic and hard working with a commitment to research. You should have excellent communication, team-working and interpersonal skills. You will have excellent laboratory skills, particularly in RNAseq and quantitative PCR; with experience in both statistical and bioinformatic analysis.

This is a fixed term post available for one year.
