Job details
Brain Health Scotland is seeking a motivated and experienced research officer to join the Brain Health Scotland team to work in the SEADD (Scottish Early Alzheimer’s Disease Detection) Programme.
The SEADD Programme aims to ensure early detection of Alzheimer’s disease in a novel clinical setting, namely the Brain Health Service. The Brain Health Service will improve access to information about brain health and clinical services for the Scottish public as well as improving clinician access to new tools for the assessment and early diagnosis of dementia and neurodegenerative diseases. Information captured by the Brain Health Service will be used to identify and improve our understanding of the risks for dementia and to develop and refine risk prediction algorithms. The SEADD Programme will also host and manage the Scottish Brain Health Register. The SEADD Programme is led by the SEADD Programme Operations Director who reports to the Executive Lead of Brain Health Scotland.
The Research Officer will support the SEADD Programme Operations Director with all aspects of the programme to design and implement the programme plan. They will focus on three deliverables: Scoping existing clinical services for the early diagnosis of dementia in Scotland and identifying gaps, barriers and opportunities in current delivery models, delivering best practice guidelines for the Scottish health care setting and developing a programme for the communication and dissemination of the SEADD programme through public engagement, social media, conferences and academic publications.
All of these deliverables will go into a formal internal report for the Brain Health Scotland senior leadership team. They will help draft the SEADD Programme Plan. They will scope funding opportunities for SEADD elements and help prepare grant applications for these with the SEADD Programme Operations Director. They will act as an ambassador for Brain Health Scotland in a variety of settings and be expected to understand and support the broader activities of Brain Health Scotland as required by the Operations Director and Executive Lead of Brain Health Scotland.
It should be noted that academic output from this role is not expected – the research activity will be predominantly for internal purposes only.
