Please see https://medicinesdiscoverycatapult.postingpanda.uk/job/569121 for details Role purpose The role of Scientist in in vitro Neurobiology at MDC, would suit a highly motivated self-starter who is passionate about working in translational science and the application of iPSC derived neurons, astrocytes and microglia in complex cell models to recapitulate aspects of disease biology. Working in an interdisciplinary team, the successful candidate will apply their expertise in CNS cell culture, neurobiology and associated methods to deliver impactful results to both collaborative projects with an external partners and internal innovation projects. The candidate will characterise the biological response of CNS cell types in complex multicellular models, and use these models to execute target validation and target engagement studies, as well as assess disease response and characterise therapeutic mechanism of action in phenotypic assays. The successful candidate will also provide scientific input and innovative ideas to the team, ensuring that MDC is ahead of new developments in the field. The individual will be an integral part of the neurobiology/cell and disease model analysis team and will work closely with colleagues in interdisciplinary projects. The role will also involve collaboration with external partners, including medicine discovery companies, technology providers and academic institutes.
