Role purpose:
The role of Senior Scientist in iPSC Neurobiology Cell Models, in the MDC Discovery group, would suit a highly motivated self-starter who is passionate about the application of iPSC derived astrocytes, microglia and neurons in complex cell models to recapitulate aspects of disease biology. Working in an interdisciplinary team, the successful candidate will apply their expertise in CNS cell culture, neurobiology, and associated methods to deliver impactful results. Through the application of phenotypic assays, the candidate will characterise the response of CNS cell types in complex cell models and execute cellular target engagement and target validation studies. The successful candidate will also provide scientific input and innovative ideas to the team, ensuring that MDC is ahead of new developments in the field. The individual will be an integral part of the neurobiology/cell and disease model analysis team and will work closely with colleagues in interdisciplinary projects. The role will also involve collaboration with external partners, including medicine discovery companies, technology providers, and academic institutes.
