Applicants are invited for the post of Neurology Junior Clinical Research Fellow to work on and support cutting edge neuroscience clinical trials within the recently founded Neuroscience Research Unit (NRU) at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.

The successful postholder will work specifically on commercial trials of novel therapies in Huntington's Disease ('gene silencing therapies') with Professor Anne Rosser and on phase 2 and phase 3 clinical trials of novel treatments in epilepsy with Professor Khalid Hamandi.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic research team, consisting of 4 Research Nurses and the NRU clinical lead. They will work closely with the clinical and academic departments of neurology - 3 SPRs, core trainees and team of Consultant Neurologists; neurophysiology and neurosurgery.

There are no other specified clinical commitments to this post aside from the trial activity.

The post holder will therefore be encouraged and supported to develop their own area of specialist interest through related projects and clinics for fellowship applications and/or publication.

Opportunities in Cardiff include a highly research active Huntington's disease clinic, which would offer interested candidates specialist training in the assessment and management of cognitive impairment, motor symptoms and neuropsychiatry of Huntington's disease. Similarly Cardiff has an expanding epilepsy research group linked to a comprehensive epilepsy service, including epilepsy surgery clinics and MDT (attended by epileptologists, neurosurgeons, neuropsychology and radiology), genetics MDT and advanced research imaging and neurophysiology techniques through the world leading CUBRIC facility.

This post is a fixed term position for 12 months.
