Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer in Biomedical Sciences (Teaching Focussed) in the Department of Biological Sciences, Royal Holloway University of London. The post-holder will contribute to the delivery of high-quality teaching within the Biomedical Sciences curriculum at undergraduate level, with a particular focus on physiology of humans and animals. An interest in teaching in Biomedical Sciences more broadly (such as pathology, cell biology or medical genetics) is desirable. This post-holder will also contribute to leadership and innovation in curriculum development, the delivery of pastoral care, supporting student recruitment and the administration of teaching. The Department has a strong commitment to research-inspired teaching, and there is a high level of support for teaching both within the Department and across the College. We are particularly keen for this new appointment to develop and implement innovative teaching methods to enhance student performance and engagement. As our teaching is research informed, appointees are expected to have up-to-date knowledge of relevant academic literature in their field as well as an understanding of current pedagogic approaches. Applicants will hold a first degree and a PhD in a relevant area as suitable for teaching animal and human physiology at HE level. We expect applicants to have experience of high-quality teaching practice at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level within the area of biomedical sciences, and a track record of design and supervision of undergraduate research projects and dissertations.
