BNA Face of the Fortnight: Dr Dorothy Tse
6th May 2024
The UCL School of Pharmacy is looking to appoint a new Lecturer to support its successful research strategy in translational neuroscience. The Division’s Research Department of Pharmacology currently comprises 12 members of academic staff with research interests ranging from gene and cell therapy to mechanisms of disease. Neuroscience has been the predominant research area in the Research Department for almost 50 years, with a succession of highly prestigious researchers who have provided leadership and significant contributions within the broader neuroscience community. The translational neuroscience theme is a priority area for investment in the Division, and one in which is envisaged as offering broad collaborative opportunities throughout UCL. In particular we are looking to develop our interests and strengths in conducting research which has direct relevance to neurological disease, clear potential for the development of models of these diseases, or strategies for their treatment.
The successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate an internationally competitive profile through a record of high impact publications and ideally through securing competitive funding. Relevant research areas include, but are not limited to, molecular genetics and structure-function studies of neurological disease, facilitation of the development of novel therapies (from small molecules to gene therapy) based on fundamental understanding of disease aetiology, or the development of novel pre-clinical models of neurological disorders for the subsequent development of therapeutic approaches. The post holder’s research programme must be clearly translational, preferably with evidence of clinical collaborations and interactions with patient groups.
The successful applicant will also be expected to be a collegiate scientific leader, make a contribution to teaching on the Division’s undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes and be willing to undertake administrative responsibilities commensurate with an academic positionDuties and Responsibilities
