Brain Research UK is pleased to invite applications for PhD studentships from candidates intending to carry out research in one of our three priority research areas: neuro-oncology, acquired brain and spinal cord injury, or headache and facial pain.

Through our studentships, we want to enable outstanding graduates to gain the necessary skills and training to set them on course for the development of an independent career in neurological research. We would like to hear from prospective students – both clinical and non-clinical – planning to embark upon a PhD in Autumn 2022 and intending to carry out research in one of the following research areas:

  • Neuro-oncology: research addressing the fundamental causes, mechanisms, diagnosis or treatment of primary tumours of the brain or spinal cord, and associated neurological complications.
  • Acquired brain and spinal cord injury: research to advance understanding of how to promote meaningful recovery from acquired CNS injuries.
  • Headache and facial pain: research addressing the fundamental causes, mechanisms, diagnosis or treatment of headache and facial pain.

The studentships provide funding for three to four years, or longer for those wishing to complete their PhD on a part-time basis, with total funding capped at £120,000.

Applications must be submitted via our new online portal by midday on Monday 15th November 2021.
