Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Neurobiologist to join the ARUK Oxford Drug Discovery Institute (ODDI), and work on the development of drug discovery projects in the field of neuroinflammation and the role of innate immunity in CNS diseases.

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to work at the interface between academic and pharmaceutical research and play a role in discovering new therapeutic approaches for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease by combining sophisticated primary and iPSC cell systems and assays developed within the University of Oxford with the drug discovery and pharmacology expertise of the ODDI.

Applicants must hold a PhD/DPhil in neuroscience, cell/molecular biology or equivalent and have expertise in establishing innovative cellular assays using neuronal and glial cell cultures, preferably primary culture and/or human iPSCs.

Responsibilities will include target validation, development of assays for compound screening and target engagement. An innovative streak, practical capability and a willingness to develop new technologies are essential attributes. The postholder will be an integrated member of the ODDI, reporting to a senior scientist/team leader in the ODDI, and will be based primarily in the Old Road Campus Research Building, Old Road Campus, Roosevelt Drive, Headington, Oxford OX3 7DQ, but also expected to spend time in other ODDI laboratories in the Target Discovery Institute on the Old Road Campus.

This full-time position is fixed-term until 31 August 2020 with the possibility of extension, and available to start immediately.
