Could you make a difference to our understanding of the refugee experience?
The UK Medical Research Council are funding a mixed methods research study to investigate the role of neighbourhood factors in the mental health of refugees.
We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher to carry out an in-depth qualitative study exploring the neighbourhood experiences of Somali refugees and their potential mental health impact.
This would suit a candidate with experience interviewing people about their mental health and ideally a background in migrant or refugee research.
The post would cover the qualitative component of the study, and include: conducting interviews with Somali refugees, analysing transcripts and writing up for publication. The researcher would also be expected to contribute to other study components and therefore also have some understanding of quantitative research methods.
