The Wellcome Centre for Integrative Neuroimaging is installing a new state-of-the-art 7T small animal MRI system to complement the Centre’s 3 and 7 Tesla human MRI capability. The MR technician would be central to the implementation, operation, and development of cutting edge neuroscience on the system to support the pre-clinical neuroscience research of the Centre.

The postholder will implement and perform brain imaging experiments on the small animal MRI system, assisting WIN faculty and collaborators as well as carry out his or her own research. In addition, he or she will maintain lab-wide operating protocols and procedures and assist with the development of novel brain and behaviour measures.

They will work collaboratively with the facilities users on a variety of short to long-term projects that align with the Centre’s overall strategic vision. In addition, it is expected that some of the post-holder’s work will lead to novel techniques and/or research findings leading to academic outputs.

The postholder will hold an MSc in neuroscience using MRI in small animals and possess significant hands-on research experience in brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in rodents using a range of different imaging modalities, including diffusion imaging and manganese enhanced MRI; ideally with a focus on in-vivo early post-natal imaging. An excellent academic track record, with peer-reviewed publications including first author papers, and familiarity with existing literature and research in the field is essential. Experience with rodent behavioural assays will prove beneficial.

The post is full-time for a fixed-term until the 27 April 2022 in the first instance.

Only applications received before 12.00 midday on Friday 4 January 2019 will be considered. Interviews will be held week commencing 7 January 2019.
