The Department of Psychology is seeking a post-doctoral cognitive neuroscientist to work on a Wellcome Trust Senior Investigator Award. They should hold a PhD in cognitive neuroscience or a related field or close to examination of their PhD thesis. The role holder will work alongside Professor TW Robbins on the theme of Impulsive-compulsive disorders and fronto-striatal systems. This project seeks to define the neural basses of compulsive behaviour, using a range of cognitive neuroscience methods and focusing on patients with obsessive-compulsive behaviour disorder (OCD).
The successful candidate should be knowledgeable and have practical experience in more than one of the following areas: neuroimaging (fMRI, MRS, resting state connectivity); EEG measurement, cognitive neuropsychology; computational modelling; human patient studies, especially OCD. They would also be experienced in statistical analysis of data and ideally would have some knowledge of MATLAB or appropriate software packages, along with programming capability.
The successful candidate will be responsible for testing OCD patients and healthy volunteers and analysing subsequent data.
As part of the research team, the successful candidate would be expected to collaborate with several PhD and other students associated with this project.
The role is based within the Department of Psychology and also at the Cambridge Biomedical Campus with some testing taking part in a clinical environment at Welwyn Garden City.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 1 years in the first instance.
