Duties and Responsibilities

The ICN is an interdisciplinary research institute at University College London that studies mental processes related to the human brain in health and disease. The post holder will be working with Dr Sam Gilbert on an ESRC-funded project "Strategic 'offloading' of intentions: Neurocognitive mechanisms and effects of ageing." This project will investigate younger and older adults' use of external reminders to prompt delayed intentions, using behavioural (lab-based and online) and fMRI methods. The postholder will design, set up and run experiments, including the recruitment and testing of participants. S/he will also be expected to record, anaylse, and write-up results.

The post is funded until March 2020 in the first instance.

Key Requirements

A PhD in a related field (such as psychology, cognitive neuroscience, or computer science) should be completed by 1st October 2018, An interest in human memory and cognition, cognitive ageing, and the ability to work as part of a research team is essential. Experience of computer programming with languages such as Matlab is desirable, as is experience of behavioural testing and fMRI techniques.
