The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7.

A major research theme of the Cognitive Neuroscience and Neuropsychiatry section (CNN) is understanding the neurogenetics of speech-language disorders.

This post is funded by NHMRC in Australia as part of an international Centre for Research Excellence. The project aims to identify genotype-phenotype relationships in individuals and families with genetic conditions that affect speech and language development, by combining brain MRI analysis and speech-language and cognitive assessments. The post represents an excellent opportunity for a post-doctoral researcher to further develop their skills in advanced MRI and to gain experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment involving cognitive neuroscientists, MRI specialists, speech and language therapists, neurologists and geneticists.

The post is grant funded for 18 months in the first instance.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD or have post-doctoral experience involving cognitive assessments and analysis of structural MRI data, both of grey matter (cortical thickness and density, volumetrics) and white mater (tractography). Experience in one or more of the following areas: tractography reconstruction from diffusion-weighted imaging, voxel brain morphometry and cortical thickness.

The candidate will also have knowledge of Functional neuroanatomy, especially for speech and language functions and having worked in the field of speech and language disorders would be an advantage.
