Job Details

We are looking for a senior research fellow with a background in psychiatry and neuroscience to join the Department of Psychological Medicine at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), King¿s College London.

The appointee will join one of the world's leading academic groups carrying out research on Translational Psychiatry.

The successful candidate will carry out research and teaching within the Department of Psychological Medicine. The appointee will be encouraged to develop their own area of research interest and will also have the opportunity to join projects that are part of the ongoing research programme in the department.

Previous experience should include subject recruitment for research studies, assessment of patients with bipolar disorder and treatment resistant depression and analysis of neuroimaging and cognitive data. The person appointed will be able to work well within a team, to be organised and methodical and to work independently seeking help appropriately when required. They will have a flexible approach to working arrangements.

Person Criteria

Essential criteria

  • Undergraduate medical degree
  • GMC registration
  • Postgraduate clinical training in psychiatry (MRCPsych or equivalent)
  • Capable of working effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Self-motivated

Desirable criteria

  • Peer reviewed publications
  • Previous research grant funding application experience
  • Previous teaching experience
  • Research in mental health
  • Postgraduate and undergraduate teaching
  • Clinical research experience in Affective Disorders or other relevant clinical research area
  • Presentations at international conferences
