BAP 2018 Summer Meeting – London

22nd July 2018 – 25th July 2018
Imperial College London

About

Come and join BAP at Imperial College in the heart of London for a superb programme of science, special sessions and social events at the 2018 Summer Meeting on 22nd-25th July. This year they have even more special events to offer, including a public lecture by BAP’s very own, Professor David Nutt.

The BAP Summer Meeting provides the perfect forum for members and non-members, non-clinical and clinical scientists to come together, meet and debate, discuss and learn about the latest advances in psychopharmacology.

Back by popular demand, recent initiative, the Applied Clinical Science Stream (ACSS) this year starts on the afternoon of Sunday 22nd July and continues all day on Monday 23rd. This year’s topic is “Psychosis: Early intervention, metabolic issues and treatment resistance”. The ACSS provides high quality, up-to-date psychopharmacology CPD for clinicians, and will highlight insights into future developments in our understanding of schizophrenia and its treatment.

BAP are delighted that world leading scientist, Professor Daniel Weinberger from Johns Hopkins University (USA) will join us to present the annual plenary Guest Lecture on Monday 23rd July. We look forward to hearing a state-of-the-art lecture on the effects of early life consequences on the emergence of schizophrenia in later life, in a talk titled: “Genomic insights into the neurodevelopmental origins of schizophrenia”.

BAP have as usual a number of initiatives for our junior members, including our Buddy Scheme where a junior member teams up with a “more senior” mentor and the Trainees’ Workshop, the theme this year will be communicating our research to the public. The Preclinical Workshop on Sunday 22nd will be on a similar theme, with Understanding Animal Research (UAR) running a special session.

BAP are particularly pleased to provide numerous bursaries to support our younger members' attendance. With several poster prizes, the annual Post-Doctoral Symposium, which this year we have extended to 2 concurrent symposia, the BAP Summer Meeting certainly has something for everyone!

Our social programme of events provides the perfect opportunity to network and continue scientific discussions in a relaxed and congenial atmosphere. We start with the Welcome Reception to be held at 7pm on Sunday 22nd in the Queen's Tower Rooms at Imperial, and our main event is the Gala Dinner on Tuesday 24th at the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington, followed by Prize-Giving and the legendary BAP disco.

BAP look forward to receiving your abstracts and registrations, and to welcoming you to London in July, for the event of the year!
