BNA Event - 28th Jun 2023

Scottish ParliamentNeuroscience Matters: research for future health
Scottish Parliament, 6-8pm, Wednesday 28th June

Attendance by invitation

The British Neuroscience Association (BNA) is holding a special reception at the Scottish Parliament, sponsored by Daniel Johnson MSP (Edinburgh Southern) both to raise the profile of neuroscience amongst policy-influencers in Scotland, and to highlight the importance of neuroscience research in helping tackle key health challenges in Scotland and beyond.

The BNA is the largest UK organisation connecting, representing and promoting neuroscience and neuroscientists across the globe. We have over 2,750 members whose interests cover the whole range of neuroscience, from ion channels to whole animal behaviour to real-life applications in the clinic and beyond.

The reception will provide you with the opportunity to speak to MSPs, neuroscientists, research funders and charities, and to hear about some of the vital neuroscience research taking place in Scotland.

We have an excellent panel of speakers:

  • Why neuroscience matters’ Professor Tara Spires-Jones, BNA President
  • ‘Why neuroscience research is vital for patients’ Kaye Nicolson, Ambassador for Alzheimer Scotland
  • ‘How basic neuroscience research is informing the development of novel treatments’ Professor Stuart Cobb, Centre for Discovery Brain Sciences, University of Edinburgh
  • ‘Why neuroscience is important to inform future approaches to mental health’ Professor Jonathan Cavanagh, School of Infection & Immunity, University of Glasgow

Attendance is by invitation only. If you have any questions then please contact Joseph Clift (joseph.clift@bna.org.uk).
