Vision and Mind: A Symposium in honour of Horace Barlow in Cambridge

BNA Event - 16th Dec 2022

Horace Barlow

You are invited to attend Vision and Mind: A Symposium in Honour of Horace Barlow, president of the British Neuroscience Association 1974 - 1977, which will be held on Friday 16th December 2022 at the Physiology, Development and Neuroscience Department at the University of Cambridge.

Horace Barlow was the second ever president of what was then known as the Brain Research Association. He guided the association through its early days, alongside others including Geof Einon, Sandra File, John O'Keefe, John Wolstencroft, Chris Evans and Pat Wall. Click here to read more about the history of the BNA.

One of the great figures of modern neuroscience, he is best known for his pathbreaking contributions to visual neurophysiology, psychophysics, and brain theory. More than any of his contemporaries, Barlow’s work has a continuing influence on modern neuroscience.

There is an excellent programme, with a world class line up of speakers. We anticipate an oversubscribed audience, and we especially welcome registrations from Early Career Researchers. Space is limited and places are selling out fast.

An evening reception will take place at the Zoology Museum following the conference, which is included in your registration.

A dinner, with family and friends, will be held in Trinity College on Saturday 17 December (at additional cost).

Bill Bialek, Adrienne Fairhall, Anya Hurlbert, Markus Meister, Concetta Morrone, Stephanie Palmer, Denis Pelli, Fred Rieke, Mike Shadlen, Eero Simoncelli, and Doris Tsao.
