BNA member wins, ”I’m a Scientist, Get me out of here!”

23rd Nov 2017

Dr Georgina Hazell, a neuroendocrinologist and member of the BNA has just been announced as the winner of the “I’m a Scientist, Get me out of here!” competition.

The competition is an online event where for two weeks school students meet and interact with scientists and vote for their favourite scientist. The scientist with the lowest votes are eliminated until only one is left to be crowned the winner.

This event is supported by carefully developed and tested resources which develop students’ skills and deepen their understanding.

The event is funded by a Society Award from the Wellcome Trust. It’s a science enrichment event for teaching How Science Works in schools and truly engages young people with real live science.

Dr Hazell’s research focuses on stress and how its effects are mediated and regulated. She took part in the Stress Zone in November's I'm a Scientist which was funded by the Physiological Society.

When asked to give a quote on her recent experience she said, “I am honoured to have been voted winner of the stress zone! It was an amazing and fun experience, and I learnt just as much from the participants as they did from the scientists. I very much recommend signing up!”
