The BNA has submitted their nominations of individuals who can fill gaps in expertise for sub-panel 4, Psychology, Psychiatry and Neuroscience (UOA4) for the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF).
The BNA is recognised as a Nominating body for REF panels, providing the valuable opportunity for the BNA to help give neuroscientists a voice in this critical aspect of assessing research in the UK.
We were delighted to receive a record number of applications this time, of which we were able to support nine candidates. The nominees put forward represent a variety of topics across psychology, psychiatry and neuroscience.
The REF is the system for assessing the quality of research in UK higher education institutions and consists of expert review panels, of which there are 34 units of assessment (UOA) distinguished by their research fields. The UOA4 sub-panel covers research across psychology, psychiatry and neuroscience.
See below for a talk 'How could the REF foster excellence?' given by Dorothy Bishop (University of Oxford; BNA Credibility Advisory Board) held at the Open Research Working Groups meeting on 8th September 2020.
