The British Neuroscience Association (BNA) is the largest UK organisation dedicated to neuroscience – connecting researchers, clinicians, industry, and society. As a not-for-profit organisation, our mission is to support and promote neuroscience and neuroscientists for the benefit of science, medicine and the public.
We are committed to making connections, between academia and industry, researchers and clinicians, science and society. By building an inclusive and collaborative community, we help advance neuroscience research and ensure its impact reaches far beyond the lab.
Uniting everyone in neuroscience – across all disciplines, sectors and career stages. Joining the BNA means becoming part of a vibrant, inclusive and influential network that supports neuroscientists at every stage of their journey. Whether you're a student, researcher, clinician or working in industry, the BNA helps you grow, connect and make an impact. Whether you want to learn, network or lead – there’s a place for you at the BNA.
It was amazing to be reminded of the breadth of work and the passionate people behind said work in the field. I feel like I have left with new knowledge and a bank of ideas as a result of the diversity of science on display. As the first external presentation of some of my PhD research, I don't think I could have had a more welcoming audience - thank you to everyone who came by, had a chat or took a zine!
Eleanor Jackson - BNA Postgraduate Member
Studying the brain is endlessly fascinating and it’s relevant to everyone.
Professor Tara Spires-Jones (Immediate-Past BNA President)
Being part of the BNA means I'm connected with all things neuroscience. By that I don't only mean news and events and access to bursaries. As a member I get a say in the future of neuroscience in the UK. It's important to me that I'm integral to a movement for positive change.

The first & largest organisation of its kind, the BNA is central to UK neuroscience.
Professor John O'Keefe (Nobel Prize Winner & BNA Co-Founder)
I like the networking opportunities - meeting other students and early career researchers who I can bond with and talk about my research. And, you know, they're friends that don't look at me like I'm mad when I'm talking about all my science, they actually enjoy it!
Bethany Facer - BNA Local Group Student Rep
The BNA brings together people from different disciplines who wouldn't otherwise meet.
Dame Uta Frith (BNA Prize Winner)
We welcome anyone with an interest in the brain to keep up to date with events, career opportunities and the latest news in neuroscience.
