BNA-Brain Carer Grants

Thanks to funding from Guarantors of Brain, the British Neuroscience Association is offering Carer Grants of up to £300 to support members with caring responsibilities, enabling them to attend neuroscience-related events (in-person or online).

Purpose

To help cover additional caring-related expenses that would otherwise prevent participation in:

  • Conferences
  • Workshops
  • Training
  • Other professional development activities

What the grant can cover

  • Childcare (in-home or external)
  • Professional care for dependents (e.g. elderly relatives)
  • Access to learning or supervision for older children
  • Other reasonable support needs related to caring

Please note that general and ongoing costs unrelated to facilitating your participation in the specific event (e.g. food, medicine) are not eligible for cover.

Eligibility

  • Must be a current BNA member
  • Open to all career stages
  • Must have caring responsibilities

Preference will be given to junior researchers, those with younger children, presenters or attendees with extenuating circumstances

Application requirements

Applicants must submit:

  • Contact and demographic details
  • Info about the event and its benefit (max 200 words)
  • Details of caring responsibilities
  • Amount requested (up to £300)
  • Budget explanation (max 200 words)
  • Any special considerations (max 200 words)
