BNA2023, the sixth Festival of Neuroscience, was held in the coastal city of Brighton from 23rd - 26th April 2023.
In April 2023, the sixth BNA Festival of Neuroscience was held at the Brighton Centre on the south-east coast of the UK. Here are some key highlights:
- 1,102 attendees joined us in Brighton, with an additional 114 participating remotely (e.g., as online speakers).
- Across three poster sessions, 408 posters were presented; 22% of which were pre-registration posters.
- The Festival featured 226 speakers representing 15 different countries.
- 65 organisations provided support for the Festival.
- Participants came from 32 countries, with approximately 75% based in the UK and Ireland.

A total of 23 organisations partnered in the event, including the British Neuroscience Association (BNA) itself. Among them were the Festival Partner, Parkinson’s UK, and the Special Partner, the Guarantors of Brain.
Programme:
Nine high-profile plenary lectures were hosted in Brighton, and for the first time this included sessions with multiple speakers, breaking away from the traditional format and implementing elements such as a panel discussion and chat- style interview within a lived experience session. Of the Lived Experience plenary: “Wonderful to see encouragement of cultural humility and sharing of some positive hope for autistic doctors and researchers”. The Lancet Discovery Science @ eClinicalMed.
Alongside the plenary lectures, BNA2023 featured over 50 symposia, workshops and special sessions, including, for the first time at a Festival - sponsored Silent Symposium sessions.
