The BNA Scholars Programme

Championing diversity in neuroscience

The BNA Scholars Programme addresses the need for greater diversity in neuroscience, closing the gaps in representation – often referred to as the “leaky pipeline.” Our mission is to build a more equitable, inclusive and representative senior neuroscience community by providing tailored support and meaningful mentoring for talented early-career researchers from underrepresented backgrounds.

Together we are shaping a future where talent and potential – not background – define success.

My mentor is very well matched to me [and] has a similar lived experience… that has allowed me to open up about some of my struggles in the neuroscience sector, but it has also given me a form of representation that I never had during my sixth form and undergraduate studies.

The Scholars Programme offers:

  • Structured mentoring from experienced neuroscientists who understand the challenges and opportunities in the field
  • Access to professional development and networking opportunities – working in partnership with leading organisations across academic, clinical, commercial and charitable neuroscience sectors
  • A supportive BNA community where Scholars can thrive, connect and grow
We are delighted to be working with the BNA in improving the much needed diversity and inclusion of under-represented groups in Neuroscience. Through our collaboration with the BNA in supporting students and early career researchers from more diverse ethnic backgrounds, we endeavour to enhance more diverse innovative thinking and solutions to complex problems in Neuroscience.
