BNA and Alzheimer’s Research UK Launch Strategic Partnership to Strengthen Support for Dementia Researchers

The British Neuroscience Association (BNA) and Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) are excited to announce a collaborative partnership to better support the dementia research community across the UK.

Bringing together the UK’s largest neuroscience organisation with the country’s leading dementia research charity, this partnership represents a shared commitment to developing the next generation of research leaders - and accelerating progress in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of dementia.

Combining Strengths to Support Researchers at Every Stage

Through a programme of joint events, training initiatives, and dementia community engagement, the partnership aims to foster collaboration, enhance opportunities for early career researchers, and strengthen the wider neuroscience and dementia research ecosystem.

This partnership reflects a shared commitment to advancing dementia research and supporting the people behind the science. By combining our strengths, we can create even more opportunities for dementia researchers to connect, develop, and thrive.

Dr Laura Ajram

Chief Executive, British Neuroscience Association

The BNA’s network of over 3,000 members spans the breadth of neuroscience, with a particularly strong representation in neurodegeneration, positioning us as a key partner in dementia research initiatives.

The partnership will enable both BNA and ARUK to work together strategically and coordinate efforts on conferences, networking events, and training programmes, ensuring maximum benefit for the research community.

I am pleased to share that we’ve partnered with the British Neuroscience Association (BNA) to better support the dementia research community through networking and early career training opportunities. In strong alignment with our ECR and EDI strategies, this partnership will support the BNA Scholars Programme and a host of other training and networking events – all aimed at students and early career researchers, with particular support for researchers from underrepresented ethnic groups.

Director of Research at Alzheimer’s Research UK

This new partnership reflects a shared commitment to advancing dementia research and supporting the next generation of neuroscientists. By working together, BNA and ARUK aim to accelerate progress, foster collaboration, and help ensure that those working in dementia research have access to the tools, training, and networks they need to thrive.
