Call to join the newly launched UK Gut Immune Brain Axis Network+
The BNA is delighted to announce a new partnership with the GIBA Network+, a unique UK-wide platform dedicated to advancing our understanding of the intricate connections between the immune system and the peripheral and central nervous system.
The past two decades have witnessed a global explosion of research into the gut-immune-brain axis (GIBA), highlighting its importance for human development, health and longevity. We are launching a national UK-wide GIBA Network+. This will build a vibrant and diverse research community to advance the mechanistic understanding of GIBA across the life-course, and its modulation by lifestyle and other factors. This collaborative network aims to foster interdisciplinary research, share cutting-edge findings, and facilitate the development of innovative approaches to advance our understanding of brain function.
As part of this collaboration, BNA members are invited to join the GIBA Network+. Members of the GIBA Network+ will have access to networking events, training opportunities, travel and mobility awards and pump priming funding calls. To find out more and join, visit www.giba-uk.org.
The interdisciplinary and collaborative nature of the GIBA Network+ aligns closely with the BNA’s commitment to fostering connection and collaboration - not only between neuroscientists, but also across the broader life sciences. The BNA will be supporting the Network by sharing updates and news with our members and wider stakeholders, working in partnership to co-develop training and representing the voice of voice of neuroscience is well represented within this dynamic and growing community.
BNA members are also invited to join the network launch event at Southampton Harbour Hotel on Monday 22nd September 2025.
The Network will cover up to £300 for UK attendees on reasonable travel expenses and one night accommodation when signing up before Friday 29th August. The Network will also cover reasonable expenses for caring responsibilities. Expenses will be reimbursed in line with UKRI guidance.
