MND Masterclass

The MND masterclass provides a comprehensive introduction to motor neuron disease (MND), bringing together clinical, scientific, patient, and charity perspectives to explore current challenges and future opportunities in research and care. The programme will begin with an overview of the day and guidance for the interactive workshop sessions.

Sessions will cover the history, definitions, and diagnosis of MND, alongside discussions on the importance of incorporating patient perspectives into research and care. A charity perspective will highlight insights from the LifeArc Quality of Life Report, emphasising the lived experience of people affected by MND.

The masterclass will also explore recent therapeutic advances, including current treatments, ongoing clinical trials, and the regulatory and policy frameworks shaping therapy development. Talks on biomarkers and drug discovery will examine how advances in neuroscience are being translated into clinical progress and new therapeutic approaches.

The day will conclude with an interactive workshop, where attendees will discuss key questions submitted in advance, share perspectives in small groups, and present their conclusions in a final plenary discussion.
