BNA Training Academy: Introduction to Neuroanatomy

The BNA's brand-new Training Academy ran it's second instalment of CPD-registered training via an online webinar.

Held on: Thursday 27 March 2025, online

The BNA hosted an interactive online training session that introduced the fundamentals of brain and spinal cord anatomy, designed for students and early-career healthcare professionals. The session combined core neuroanatomy content with clinically relevant examples—such as stroke and spinal cord injury—to help bridge the gap between theory and practice.

Key Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the session, participants were able to:

  • Explain the relationship between neuroanatomy and neurological function

  • Apply anatomical knowledge to clinical case scenarios

Target Audience:

  • Undergraduate medical and neuroscience students

  • Junior doctors

  • Healthcare trainees

  • Open to both BNA members and non-members

Course Leader:

Dr Paul Hubbard, Senior Lecturer at Newcastle University, led the session. With over 20 years’ teaching experience in neuroscience and neuroanatomy, Dr Hubbard brought deep subject knowledge and extensive online teaching expertise to the course.

Agenda Highlights:

  • Overview of clinical neuroanatomy: cortical functions, blood supply, spinal cord anatomy

  • Case discussions: stroke and spinal cord injury

  • Live Q&A and summary of key points
